Kids learn nanotechnology at Nanoworld. Elementary school children across the United States have been learning about incomprehensibly tiny things in an exhibition created by Cornell University. The children make the discoveries while walking through and playing with very large and colorful things in the traveling science museum exhibition created by the Cornell Nanobiotechnology Center. For those of you who actively read Nanodot, it has now been moved to the Foresight web site: The Foresight Institute Awards Feynman Prizes. Researchers, Journalist, Government Official and Student Honored at Advanced Nanotechnology Conference. Read More (Oct 26, 2005).
The Immortality Institute has been developing a film project " Exploring Life Extension" set for release in November of 2005. " The Immortality Institute’s science documentary, Exploring Life Extension, aims to create a realistic impression of the modern scientific pursuit of Life Extension. The documentary includes interviews with authors from the Immortality Institute’s book, The Scientific Conquest of Death, plus more than 50 other individuals working to advance Life Extension." Organizers of the second annual International and North Coast Nanotechnology Business Idea Competitions today announced they are accepting submissions for the 2005 event, which will award winners $150,000 in prize money at the conclusion of NANO Week in October. Read the New "Research and Development Funding in the Presidents 2005 Budget" which currently provides a billion dollars for the NNI - National Nanotechnology Initiative. Download the PDF. Edventure Museum exhibit explores nano-technology. A new exhibit at Edventure Children's Museum is letting kids explore a world too small to see. "It's a Nano World" teaches kids about a nanometer, which is one billionth of a meter, smaller than one strand of hair. With the exhibit, children are able to measure themselves in nanometers, see things up close and personal, sort cells and play inside a drop of blood. Government Support for Nanotechnology in Silicon Valley with Congressman Mike Honda presented by IEEE SF Bay Area Nanotechnology Council will be held January 18, 2005 in San Jose, California, USA. Email: dhavaljb@ieee.org to RSVP or with questions. For fun visit the UW-Madison MRSEC website, Exploring the Nanoworld, watch movies and learn about nanotechnology. For students, teachers and everyone to enjoy! Take a visual tour of the future...at Artistic License. 3D art using VRML software programs were used to create an unique perspective of future technology applications. See the new animations page...the beginnings. (Update : see the Museum of the Future.) Nanomedicine, Vol. IIA: Biocompatibility by Robert A. Freitas Jr. has been published. Dont' miss out on this must have book! Foresight Institute Awards Feynman Prizes in Nanotechnology. The Foresight Institute, a nonprofit nanotech think tank, awarded its 2003 Feynman Prizes in Nanotechnology Saturday to University of California, Berkeley researchers Steven Louie and Marvin Cohen, and University of California, Los Angeles researcher Carlo Montemagno. SmallTimes 10/13/03 Phlesch Bubble awarded the IMM Computational Nanotechnology Prize. Phlesch Bubble has been awarded the IMM Computational Nanotechnology Prize (Simulation category) for their animation of a working respirocyte (a hypothetical artificial red blood cell designed by Robert Freitas). David Forrest, President of the Institute for Molecular Manufacturing, commented about the animation: "The judges were very impressed with the quality of (the) work, the level of detail, and the fidelity to the physics of fluid motion in the bloodstream and the biological environment of the respirocyte. The operation of the respirocyte was communicated with clarity, attention to detail, scientific accuracy, and high visual impact."
